Privacy

Effective 2026-07-09 · Pipl

○ § 01 · Effective date

This privacy policy for Pipl takes effect on the publication date shown at the bottom of this page. Any future revision will be linked from this same URL with a clear amendment note. Please re-read this policy whenever a substantive change is announced inside the app.

○ § 02 · Who we are

Pipl is a small team distributing a single iOS developer utility — a local routing-rule tester. We have no advertising business, no analytics partners, and no data-broker arm. Email is our only support channel; we do not run phone or chat support.

○ § 03 · Data we collect

Pipl is a fully on-device app. The rule sets, sample URLs, regex patterns and text you enter are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard storage frameworks (SwiftData and UserDefaults). We do not collect personal identifiers, contacts, photos, location, or browsing history, and the app requests no system permissions.

○ § 04 · How we use it

The rules and URLs you enter exist only so the app can evaluate them locally and show you the verdict and the rule that matched. We never read, transmit, profile, or run analytics on anything you enter, and we never sell or disclose it.

○ § 05 · No network, not a VPN

Pipl makes no network requests. The URLs you test are matched locally against your rules — they are never actually fetched, resolved, or contacted. Pipl is not a VPN and has no network access. There is no server, no cloud, no account, and no server-side copy of anything you enter.

○ § 06 · Third-party processors

The app itself contacts no third parties. Off the device we rely only on Apple (App Store distribution and, if you opt in, crash reports — required by iOS) and Cloudflare (hosting and DNS for this static website). If you choose to email support, that message is handled by our email provider — only with the content and address you send.

○ § 07 · Retention schedule

Rule sets and entries you create stay on your device until you delete them. If you email support, that correspondence is retained for about 18 months after the conversation closes and then erased. We retain no analytics, behavioural data, or device fingerprints — none are collected in the first place.

○ § 08 · International data transfers

Because Pipl keeps your data on the device, no international transfer occurs for anything you enter. The static website you are reading is served from Cloudflare's global edge, delivered from whichever data centre is closest to your network.

○ § 09 · Your GDPR rights

Under the GDPR you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because Pipl stores everything on-device only, the app already gives you full access, editing, and deletion. For any email you sent us, write to privacy@piplapp.com to request access or erasure; we respond within 30 days as required by Article 12(3).

○ § 10 · California privacy rights

California residents have rights under the CCPA and CPRA: to know, to delete, to correct, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and to non-discrimination. We do not sell or share personal information, so the opt-out does not apply in practice; the other rights are honoured by emailing privacy@piplapp.com.

○ § 11 · Security and breach notification

We minimise data, so there is very little to protect. Support email is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by our provider. In the unlikely event of a breach affecting personal information, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware and notify affected users by email where that is the only contact we hold.

○ § 12 · Contact and complaints

For privacy questions or to exercise any right above, email privacy@piplapp.com. For general help, email support@piplapp.com. EU/UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority.
